NIER aspires to provide descriptions of research methods, including both backgrounds and practical protocols. To stimulate researchers to share their knowledge, NIER has organized the second contest for the best "Methods in Renal Research" manuscript.

The jury was unanimous in awarding the first prize to Wilco Pulskens and Gwendoline Teske for their paper The in vivo model of bilateral ischemia reperfusion injury. The manuscript was presented during the Dutch Nephrology Days on April 9th. ' A well structured and good paper that describes the model in a concise and solid manner and offers enough detail and practical tips to be a good starting point for researchers that would like to set up this model. '

The second prize went to Matthieu Monge for his paper Impact of chronic renal failure on bone marrow vascular progenitor cells. Other interesting papers describing Methods In Renal Research can be found at Resources.
